Real Bride: Jasmine

Some dresses are made for one moment. Others carry a story with them.

For Jasmine, her evening wedding dress began with something deeply personal: a vintage corset belonging to her grandmother, Marian.

Rather than starting from a blank canvas, we started with the corset and Jasmine’s own vision for how she wanted to feel in her second look. The original piece became the foundation for a completely new dress — something contemporary, playful and made entirely for her, whilst keeping the sentiment of where it came from.

The corset

Working with a vintage corset means working with what is already there: its shape, its character and the history held within it. We carefully reworked the piece, adding extra boning throughout the corset to give it the structure and support needed for a new life as an evening dress.

The aim was never to lose what made the original special. Instead, it was about building around it and allowing it to become something new.

Made for the evening

Jasmine’s wedding was a quintessentially English countryside celebration, held at Huntsham Court in Devon. Her main bridal look was Vivienne Westwood; for the evening, the mood changed and so did the dress.

The second look was designed to feel fun and effortless — something she could properly celebrate in. The vintage corset gave it an individuality that could never be replicated by starting with something new.

For us, this is what makes bespoke so special. It is not simply about making a dress to a particular shape or specification. It is about taking an idea, a feeling, or sometimes a piece that already means something to you, and turning it into something you can wear and make your own.

A new chapter for an old piece

There is something lovely about the idea of a family piece being given another life on a wedding day. Jasmine’s grandmother’s corset became part of her story, too — transformed into an evening dress she could dance, celebrate and make memories in.

It was a collaboration from beginning to end: Jasmine brought the vision, the corset brought the history, and together we created something that felt completely hers.
